West Nile virus is a mosquito-borne illness that can cause serious illness or death. NC's first 2025 case was reported this week.

A mosquito trap in Tulsa County tested positive for the West Nile virus last week. The Tulsa County Health Department reports that it's the first time this has happened this season. Officials say that although this detection comes later in the year than usual, it's a routine occurrence and not cause for alarm.
