A South Carolina inmate convicted in his friend's killing was put to death on Friday, marking the state's third execution in four months.
Marion Bowman Jr, 44, was executed at a prison in Columbia, the capital of South Carolina, for the 2001 murder of 21-year-old Kandee Martin, the state’s Department of Corrections said.
In the statement detailing his final words, Bowman said he did not kill 21-year-old Kandee Martin. “I know that Kandee’s family is in pain, they are justifiably angry,” Bowman said.
Marion Bowman Jr. was executed Friday in South Carolina, marking the first U.S. execution of 2025. He maintained his innocence in Kandee Martin’s death.
