Another powerful storm system is expected to sweep across a wide swath of the United States, bringing heavy rain to Southern California, heavy snow to parts of the West and Midwest and more snow and freezing rain to the Northeast and New England.

The seemingly endless cycle of snow, torrential rain and disruptive weather will continue this weekend as a powerful storm system lashes the central and eastern US.

At least 14 people are dead after a winter storm packing severe weather struck the South and moved through the East over the weekend. Eleven of those victims were killed in Kentucky as heavy rains pummeled the region, trapping cars, sweeping vehicles off roadways and causing vehicle accidents.
