Walmart is recalling about 850,000 stainless steel water bottles because the lid can “forcefully eject” and unexpectedly strike consumers — resulting in permanent vision loss for two people to date.
Walmart is recalling close to a million water bottles after a dangerous hazard was revealed involving the lid. Multiple injuries were reported.
Walmart has issued a recall for a popular water bottle due to safety concerns. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a notice on July 10, reporting that the recall affected approximately 850,000 water bottles sold in Walmart stores and online across the United States since 2017.

Stainless steel is generally considered non-toxic and resistant to bacterial growth, but many popular stainless steel tumblers have BPA-free plastic lids or straws that can leach microplastics when exposed to hot water, acidic liquids or high temperatures in the dishwasher.
