Madeleine Brettingham has won the inaugural West End New Woman Comedian of the Year title. She took the £100 prize after seeing off competition from around 100 other entrants.

Eddie Murphy is to play hapless Inspector Clouseau in a new Pink Panther movie. The 64-year-old comic confirmed that he would be stepping into the character made famous by Peter Sellers.
