The pressure is one for House Republicans to pass President Trump's massive tax cuts and spending bill by his July 4 deadline.

Democratic U.S. Senator John Fetterman voted against it. But citing the need for stepped-up border security, increased defense spending and less environmental constraints on energy production, Republican U.S. Senator Dave McCormick voted for it, issuing this statement:

Senate Republicans narrowly passed President Trump’s $4.5 trillion bill with a tie-breaking vote from Vice President JD Vance. It extends tax cuts and cuts Medicaid, while adding nearly $3.3 trillion to the deficit.
