ARLINGTON, Texas — Jac Caglianone got his first night off as a major leaguer with the Kansas City Royals in part because of a left-handed starter for the Texas Rangers. A day later, the first two big league homers for the powerful 22-year-old prospect came in lefty-lefty matchups against relievers.

Michael Wacha shined across six innings and the bullpen did its job late as Carlos Estévez earned his 21st save to lead all American League relievers. The Royals (37-38) swept the Rangers for the first time since Sept. 1-3, 2014. It’s also their first sweep in Arlington in nearly 22 years (July 11-13, 2003).

Top prospect Jac Caglianone went deep twice for his first two homers in the majors, and the Kansas City Royals finished their first three-game sweep at Texas since 2003 with a 4-1 win over the Rangers.
