Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the United States President Donald Trump have spoken about easing tariffs and resolving trade concerns between the two countries, while also shoring up defense ties.

The Indian prime minister praised Trump while angling to avoid the steep ‘reciprocal’ tariffs the US president plans.

Shortly after announcing sweeping reciprocal tariffs which will impact all nations which impose tariffs on US goods, Donald Trump spoke about how India is "right at the top of the pack" when it comes to tariffs.
