Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is going through the process of appointing a new offensive coordinator after relieving Ryan Grubb of his duties. After looking outside the organization for Mike McCarthy's replacement, the Dallas Cowboys chose coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as the 10th coach in franchise history, Jerry Jones told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday.

“Brian Schottenheimer is known as a career assistant,” Jones said, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. “He ain’t Brian no more,” Jones puzzlingly added. “He is now known as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.”

A familiar face, Schottenheimer steps into the role after orchestrating the Cowboys' offense as the offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, despite not calling plays. He succeeds Mike McCarthy, whose tenure ended following the team's disappointing 7-10 finish in 2024.
