University of Miami introduces Jai Lucas as new men's basketball head coach
The University of Miami has named Jai Lucas as its new head coach for men's basketball, tapping the highly regarded Duke assistant to lead the Hurricanes into a new era. Lucas, 35, arrives in Coral Gables after three seasons at Duke, where he served as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach.

The 36-year-old Lucas was introduced as the men’s basketball coach at Miami on Monday. Lucas replaces Jim Larrañaga, who retired Dec. 26 after guiding the Hurricanes for 14 seasons. Larrañaga attended the introductory press conference as well as Lucas’ father, former NBA player and coach John Lucas.
Lucas is staying in the ACC and, at 36, will be the youngest high-major coach when he takes over Miami following this weekend
