The Miami Hurricanes are being built on the defensive side of the ball thanks to the outstanding genius of Jai Lucas.
The 36-year-old Lucas was introduced as the men’s basketball coach at Miami on Monday. Lucas replaces Jim Larrañaga, who retired Dec. 26 after guiding the Hurricanes for 14 seasons. Larrañaga attended the introductory press conference as well as Lucas’ father, former NBA player and coach John Lucas.
Lucas is staying in the ACC and, at 36, will be the youngest high-major coach when he takes over Miami following this weekend
The task is one Jai Lucas didn’t inherit but rather seized. And it’s a challenge with a place unlike any other in Miami sports history.
