The Philadelphia 76ers made a selection with the No. 3 overall pick as they took Baylor star VJ Edgecombe with the No. 3 overall pick. The Sixers will add an athletic marvel to their backcourt and allow themselves to move forward with a faster and quicker team on the floor.

A national television audience caught Edgecombe’s hands in a prayer position upon (finally) hearing his name called, and the hug with his mother. He missed the Bahamian flags that peppered the crowd inside the arena bowl, because he was too concentrated on not falling as he walked up the stairs to the stage.

NEW YORK — The Philadelphia 76ers selected Baylor freshman guard VJ Edgecombe with the third overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft on Wednesday night. The 19-year-old Edgecombe had an outstanding season for the Bears, averaging 15 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
