The "best train journeys" in Scotland for 2025 have been named. Luxury services and scenic routes are among the train journeys that were singled out. Travel experts at Condé Nast Traveller recently rounded up the best train journeys throughout the UK. Out of the 17 routes featured on the roundup, five are located in Scotland.
A man has been treated in hospital after reports of a gun being fired in Edinburgh. Police Scotland said officers were called to Hailesland Gardens in the Wester Hailes area at about 15:40. A 23-year-old man was treated in hospital for injuries to his arm but they are not thought to be life-threatening. No-one else was injured.
