Texas lawmakers failed to pass a bill in the regular legislative session that would have improved local governments’ emergency communications infrastructure.

During a press conference today, Congressman Al Green remarked on a letter by Department of Justice warning Texas that certain districts are products of "racial gerrymandering" and thus must be redrawn.

The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management deployed a specialized two-person team to assist Texas in its flood recovery efforts, according to a Friday news release from the agency.

"The first lady and I are here in Texas to express the love and support and the anguish of our entire nation in the aftermath of this really horrific and deadly flood," Trump said as he spoke at a roundtable event with first responders and local officials.
