You can choose whether to use a sewing machine or go the no-sew route. Fold either side of a rectangular fabric scrap over about an inch to create a clean seam.

I rarely have time for projects like that, so it’s always nice to have to some small sewing projects to make that don’t take a lot of time or fabric.
