The Democratic governor in Kansas has vetoed a proposed Republican-backed ban on gender-affirming care for transgender minors.

Senate Bill 63, known to Republican supporters as the “Help Not Harm Act,” sought to ban gender affirming care for minors who suffer from gender dysphoria and would have allowed for civil action to be taken against healthcare workers who provided such care to young people under age 18. Kelly vetoed a similar bill last session.
