KNKX honors and celebrates the important legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year, the federal holiday is observed on Monday, January 19.

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be honored with several upcoming ceremonies and events taking place around Lorain County. Temple B’nai Abraham, 530 Gulf Road in Elyria, is set to host a musical program at 2 p.

The Kingdom Day Parade, volunteer fests, and concerts will spotlight the civil rights leader’s works, deeds, and legacy.

From a vigil in Silverton to a march in Salem, several Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day events will be held this year in and around the Willamette Valley. Most government agencies will be closed on Jan. 19.

Most County schools are off Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Rev. Mary Council-Austin will be recognized at Marian's annual breakfast.
