A search was underway early Monday after a suspected smuggling boat capsized off Del Mar, killing three people. Early reports indicated nine people were missing and four survivors were located, a U.S.

Crews were searching for survivors. It was not immediately clear how many people were on the boat, a small, open, outboard-powered craft.

A twelve-foot boat sank in rough surf off the coast of Del Mar, leaving approximately a dozen people in the water.
