Parents are encouraged to get their children tested for lead poisoning — for free —at clinics offered by the Milwaukee Health Department, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers and Children’s Wisconsin.

More than 250 MPS students were screened for lead at a clinic held by Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and the Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) on Saturday.

While test results are immediate, it will take the health department time to drill down if lead exposure came from a home or from an MPS school.
