The Boston Red Sox made a surprisingly generous offer to the Minnesota Twins, but were turned down, a new report says.

It seemed like the Red Sox would be aggressive buyers at the trade deadline, especially after getting rid of Devers’ contract. While they did make some moves, they weren’t anything special on the surface. ESPN’s David Schoenfield named Boston as one of the trade deadline losers.

One report said that the Red Sox and Craig Breslow weren't willing to part with one of their major league outfielders for Joe Ryan.
